Agility + Strategy
Traditional Startups operated with strategic rigor, out of necessity. A release that took a year with a team of developers had to be on target or the startup would go out of business.
Then came the “Lean Startup,” with its massive improvements in flexibility and agility. The days of “waterfall” software releases quickly came to an end.
Unfortunately, the startup world has over-rotated in this direction. Flexibility has allowed too many teams to build minimum viable startups or money-hungry companies that grow by raising ever larger amounts of money to counter a lack of discipline and integrity in their strategies. Too many startups have confused being busy with being effective….Or, teams have chased unattractive users and customers to make “the plan.” VCs have only made the problem worse.
Prime Movers combine agility with strategic rigor
Prime Movers marry agility with strategic rigor. When they deliver products and services, they know their 10x advantages and which the customers and users will care deeply about those advantages. They have discipline and integrity with their early customers across product, sales, marketing, and all other parts of the company that deliver value. They don’t chase “growth hacked” vanity metrics to look good in a fundraising deck…instead, they accumulate attractive users and customers at an accelerating rate.
